The Healthcare Leadership Network of the Delaware Valley and the Temple University Healthcare Management Alumni Association (TUHMAA) have partnered to provide ACHE member Temple University healthcare management alumni and students an opportunity to participate in HLNDV’s successful mentorship program.
The process is simple for participants who are asked to submit profile information and describe what they are seeking out of a mentor or mentee. The mentoring committee reviews the applicants and tries to identify an optimal match based on the respective goals of the mentor and mentee. Once a proposed match is agreed to, an introductory “launch call” is facilitated by the mentoring committee to serve as a starting point in the relationship.
The partnership between HLNDV and TUHMAA originated with feedback received by the TUHMAA board during its strategic planning alumni member survey. Alumni expressed a strong interest in both participating in a mentoring program and supporting the Temple University healthcare management students. TUHMAA board members, well aware of HLNDV’s strong mentoring program, active membership in ACHE by the Temple University graduate students, and high ACHE membership among its alumni, approached HLNDV Career Development committee co-chair Ned Lafer, MD, FACHE about forming this partnership.
“People want to be able to give back their time, experience, and expertise to help others grow in their professional and personal lives,” shares Ned. “Mentoring is a great way to fulfill this purpose. HLNDV is excited that TUHMMA will be partnering with us to help expand our mentorship program. We look forward to a successful relationship.”
HLNDV was excited to increase its pool of potential mentors and mentees, and TUHMAA was excited to be able to offer this opportunity to its members and TU healthcare management students.
